Homiletics 101

How can anybody deal with spiritual truths if they don’t walk in the Spirit? How could a person DARE to approach a pulpit in front of people hoping to hear from God without preparing himself first? How could anybody DARE to presume they could stand in front of people and say, “God says this and that!”?

I Am Healed

So when you get a cold, and God has paid the price for your healing, and you’ve prayed and done what you know you should do, then what?

Well, then it’s time to take hold of His promises.

So yes.  I’ve had a cold.  I have had sniffles, a temperature, congestion, coughing, sneezing, more coughing, and the little . . . → Read More: I Am Healed

I Have A Cold

So I don’t think it’s a sin to say, “I have a cold.” I have a runny nose, deep cough, loss of appetite, slight temperature, and Dumbo is sitting on my head. Those symptoms tell me that I have a cold. I could embellish it and say I have the symptoms of a cold, but that’s like saying I’m scared of it. . . . → Read More: I Have A Cold

Running The Race

If it’s worth even entering the race, it’s worth running to win. You and I, and especially those of us actually sharing our faith whether in a pulpit or a bus stop, need to watch ourselves closely so that we don’t end up ushering a bunch of people onto the eternal bus, but dropping our own ticket along the way.

Use wise and Godly judgment. That absolutely does not mean you or I should sit in God’s chair as if He was out getting lunch, and try to pass eternal decisions on anybody. We’re just not wired for that perception. If Godly, and I mean really Godly, people had sat in judgment over Saul of Tarsus, we might never have gotten Paul the Apostle. . . . → Read More: sinner. Growing Pains

Today my church is small enough that I know everyone’s names, all their kids, and a lot of what’s going on in their lives. As we grow, some of that will be impractical. Isn’t it ironic? I pray God builds this church to a place where I can no longer personally do the things I love to do for His Children.

When life gives you lemons…

My first W-2 job was at a fast food restaurant. I worked for the Founder’s grandson, and I learned some life lessons there. For example, a cup of coffee cost us a total gross cost of 6 cents. We sold it for 89 cents. If somebody wanted 4 refills we gladly provided it because it gave us a chance to ask something like, “Have you ever had rich, chocolate brownie with a hot refill of coffee?” . . . → Read More: When life gives you lemons…

At the starting gates

…we need to come to the starting gates of every day with MORE than is expected, so when the “battle” comes to us, it’s not much of a fight. There will be plenty of hard times thrown in our paths, we may as well prepare for the ones we CAN prepare for. . . . → Read More: At the starting gates
